The new Ranger Diesel led the Polaris line-up of ATVs and Utility Vehicles at Saltex, with the purpose-built Polaris off-road course at the show providing the opportunity to put it through its paces. Here was the chance to experience the power and torque of the 904cc diesel engine, class leading suspension and ride, ergonomics and comfort with seating for three. Alongside the Ranger Diesel was the Ranger EV, the world’s first true 4x4 electric Utility Vehicle, with its smooth, quiet 30hp/48V AC electric motor. The Utility Vehicle that never needs fuel, only a charge from the mains. The Polaris Ranger 400 is a Midsize Side-by-Side that lives up to the Ranger promise of ‘hardest working’ with real work capabilities such as over 226kg (500lbs) of cargo capacity and 567kg (1,250lbs) of towing capacity. Moving up the power scale anyone needing a real heavy-duty workhorse will find unmatched traction and capacity with the Ranger 800 6x6. Independent six-wheel suspension and a gigantic 1-ton payload put this Polaris in a class of its own. If moving people around is a key requirement, there’s room for a team of six in the Ranger 800 Crew with increased legroom, massive storage space and a powerful 760cc Twin EFI engine. The Polaris Sportsman range is represented by the economically priced Sportsman 500 H.O. and the highly versatile Sportsman 550X2 which comfortably carries two people and is available as a road legal machine. To complete the show line-up came the beefy Sportsman 800 Big Boss 6x6 with six-wheel independent suspension and on-demand true six wheel drive, Active Descent Control, Engine Braking System and hydraulic disc brakes on all six wheels.
