X6 Hits The ShowroomsAs previewed in February, the coupe/SUV crossover X6 is already in production at BMW’s US factory and scheduled to appear in showrooms shortly after you read this.

Priced up there at 7-Series level, you won’t be seeing X50i’s on every street corner but the new car’s innovations are likely to trickle down to the rest of the range before long. Chief among them are the range of twin-turbo engines, with the range-topping 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 turning in 408 bhp, plus the X6’s Dynamic Performance Control, a stability system which acts the opposite way from a conventional set-up by constantly adjusting the drive forces from side to side at the rear wheels, transferring additional speed to the outside wheel rather than braking the inner wheel. BMW's advanced telematics package has also been further developed, to the point where the online assistance service can even remotely reset the software in the car's electronics to get you mobile again after a breakdown. Prices range from £41,995 for the 3-litre single-turbo diesel X30d, to £44,135 for the twin-turbo X35d and £42,625 for the X35i twin-turbo petrol. The X50i has yet to be priced.
