Was it the sunshine or simply a general feeling of optimism that prompted a complete clear out of convertibles put up for sale at leading car auction specialist, British Car Auctions (BCA) mid April? Whatever the reason, 400 convertibles – from Mini Cooper Convertibles to an Aston Martin DB9 V12 Volante and Porsche 911 Carrera S Tiptronic – all sold, many for prices higher than expected. “Admittedly it was a gloriously sunny day at our Blackbushe Auction Centre” confirmed Tim Naylor, PR Manager, BCA. “But it was tremendously encouraging to see more than 350 buyers in the auction hall. There were also more than 100 dealers bidding via the internet using BCA’s Live Online service.” With a broad selection of cars available, ranging in value from under £4,000 to over £50,000, bidding was brisk from the first car – sold at 10.30 am - through to the last sold at 3.20 pm. Private buyers and dealers bid strongly throughout the sale. “Whilst there have been mixed messages on the economy over the last few weeks – and with the General Election campaigns in full swing some consumers might be feeling nervous about making bigger financial commitments, this sale seemed to suggest a good level of optimism amongst the trade and private buyers”, concluded Tim Naylor. A final Spring sale is to be held in Yorkshire at BCA Brighouse on 28th April. |
