Land Rover Enthusiasts In Their Thousands Enjoy LANDROVERmax!

Around 10,000 Land Rover enthusiasts gathered at Stoneleigh Park over the August Bank Holiday for LANDROVERmax! as it returned to the Midlands, the home of Land Rover.

The recent rain only added to the fun as 700 4x4 owners put their skills to the test and navigated the challenging off-road course, sponsored by Britpart. Some drivers found the twisting and very muddy course too challenging, but the marshalls were on hand to winch them to safety and back on course.

In the Main Arena, the crowds enjoyed demonstrations from experts as well as the twist off challenge which proved too much for a couple of participants as their Land Rovers toppled over whilst trying to see how high they could climb a single track on just one wheel.

Lucky Land Rover Owner David Pullin from Bideford, Devon, was reunited with his Discovery after it had been given star treatment with thousands of pounds of new equipment being lavished on it courtesy of Land Rover Monthly. Dave now plans to take the Land Rover on the Help for Heroes Land Rover Rally in 2011.

Amongst the thousands of Land Rovers that converge at the venue to create a festival of Land Rovers, the highlight was the arrival of Land Rovers from Judge Dredge and Tomb Raider as well as an SAS patrol vehicle that served behind enemy lines in Iraq which proved real crowd pleasers.

Making the most of the weekend, over 2,000 campers set up home at Stoneleigh Park for the duration of the show. They were entertained with discos and karaoke that added to the festival atmosphere.

LANDROVERmax! will return to Stoneleigh Park in August 2011. For updates, visit the show’s website at www.landrovermax.com for further updates.
