Kent
London to Brighton Jaguar Run
Location:Hall Place, Bexley
Starts at 08:15
• Starting at the charming Hall Place in the London Borough of Bexley, with a bacon buttie and a hot drink before the off! • Route and information pack provided with tulip-style directions • Rally plate with individual Rally number. • Visit to Parham House and Gardens, at Amberly, West Sussex. A well-loved family home, only three families have owned the house since being built in 1577 during the reign of Elizabeth I. The last family was the Hon. Clive Pearson and his wife Alicia who, in 1922, found the house and gardens in a dilapidated state of repair and together spent many years restoring and reviving this wonderful estate with great care and sensitivity. We have arranged for the house to open earlier than usual to accommodate our visit. Also, rather than having the restrictions of guided tours, there will be a guide in each room ready to answers any questions you may have, so you can stroll around and enjoy the house at your leisure. Don’t forget to visit the old kitchen where, as part of your tour, tea and cake will be waiting for you. In the walled garden is the Wendy House, a miniature two-story cottage built for their daughters. A stroll around the park and gardens will reveal the Church of St Peter, Fallow deer and many veteran trees which provide important habitat for insects and lichens. Parking will be in a designated grassed area by the house. • Traditional finish point at Brighton’s Madeira Drive reserved exclusively for us on the day. • Prize-Giving for the Treasure Hunt competition and Car of the Run Award. • Time to explore Brighton's shops and restaurants.

Patrolled parking at the De Bradelei Wharf is within easy walking distance. You will be able to check-in for the ‘Entente’ during the evening, to allow you a more relaxing start the following day. Friday June 18 – Day 1 The start – Churchill Hotel Dover We will start to congregate at the hotel from 8am, parking along Dover’s waterfront. Whilst checking in for the tour you will have the chance to take a morning coffee but, more importantly, you will be able to meet the team of marshals who will give you the all-important route instruction books, name badges and any last minute information – and of course watching over your gleaming Jaguars! Ferry Crossing We will leave the hotel by 9.15am to travel the short distance to the ferry port, where we have priority loading on P&O’s 10.45am sailing to Calais. One of the ferry’s lounges will be reserved for our exclusive use, allowing us to have a short briefing once everyone has boarded. Arrival at Calais Meeting up with more participants from mainland Europe at the exit from the port, we will set off, initially along the motorway. After just over 100 miles of motorway we take a more scenic route through northern France and the Champagne region to reach our destination for our overnight stay, Epernay. Saturday June 19 – Day 2 Epernay to Besançon Today takes us on quiet ‘D’ roads through eastern France to our main destination for this year’s tour, Besançon. As usual we have provided an element of competition for you to enjoy, by setting a Treasure Hunt along the route. Our route takes us through the town of Neufchâteau, where there are plenty of restaurants and bars for you to take a break and lunch. After lunch we continue to meander through the Franche-Comté region into the regional capital, Besançon. Parts of the centre of Besançon have been pedestrianised, and the remainder of the town centre has numerous one-way streets, so we have arranged secure parking very close to the centre of the town, but conveniently close to your hotels. Sunday June 20 – Day 3 Besançon Besançon lies within a loop of the river Doubs, and the town is dominated by its Citadel, a fortress built by Vauban in the 17th century. We have permission to display our Jaguars in the Place de la Revolution, in the centre of the town, and you will then be free to explore the town, either individually or with a local guide, or to take the free bus up to the Citadel where you can appreciate the views or visit one of the three museums (Regional Arts & Crafts, Natural History & WW2 French Resistance) There is also a zoo housed within the fortress. Monday June 21 – Day 4 Tour to Switzerland and Lake Cruise Today we take a two hour drive across the Jura to Neuchâtel in Switzerland, where we will embark the ‘Fribourg’ for a cruise on the lake. During the cruise lunch will be served and we will take the opportunity to announce the winners of the treasure hunt and present prizes. After lunch we will drive along the west side of the lake before taking a scenic route back to Besançon. Tuesday June 22 – Day 5 Dôle and the Doubs Valley This morning we drive to the town of Dôle, the former capital of the region, where there is a market for local produce, or you can visit the cathedral, or simply wander the narrow streets and admire the architecture. From Dôle our route takes us along the Doubs valley to the spa town of Salins-les-Bains, and then we pass by the ‘Grottes d’Osselle’, caves which were discovered in the 13thC and are the oldest tourist caves known. You can take a tour of the caves, before continuing your journey back to Besançon. Wednesday June 23 – Day 6 Besançon to Epernay Today we must leave Besançon, with a very scenic route along traffic free roads back to Epernay, for our overnight stop. Our route includes the pretty town of Châtillon-sur-Seine, where there are plenty of opportunities for refreshment. Thursday June 24 – Day 7 Epernay to Calais Our final day of the tour takes us on a fairly direct route to Amiens, where we join the motorway back to Calais for the afternoon ferry home. Daily mileages Below we have listed the approximate distances over our chosen routes. Please bear in mind that the maximum driving time in any one day is between three and five and a half hours, but don’t forget that the routes on Monday and Tuesday are optional! Miles Friday Calais to Epernay 187 Saturday Epernay to Besançon 207 Sunday Car display and tour of Besançon Monday Visit to Switzerland with cruise 165 Tuesday Dôle & the Caves at Osselle 89 Wednesday Besançon to Epernay 211 Thursday Epernay to Calais 227 Total Mileage 1086 The Crucial Breakdown Crew – peace of mind! Following the tour throughout our travels in France will be our regular team of mechanics ready to assist with any car problems. Most repairs can be completed at the roadside. Flavours of the region Poultry and freshwater fish, accompanied by local Jura wines, are found in many restaurants in this part of France, along with game. If you get the chance try wild boar, or venison, or a casserole of various local game. The region is also noted for several different varieties of cheese. Comté cheese is made from the milk of Montbéliard cows from the east of France, cows that have been fed exclusively on grass and hay. The cheese has a characteristic hazelnut flavour, but unlike Emmenthal, has no (or few) holes! Comté or Gruyere cheese can be used for a traditional fondue, with chunks of crusty bread dipped into the cheese which has been melted together with white wine. Several different spirits are produced by local vineyards, but the Kirsch from the Loue Valley near Ornans is particularly well regarded.

Scally Rally - Mille MIglia

Starts at 09:00
MM -2, Calais to Zurich As usual the first day of the event is all about driving to the good stuff and the MM is no exception. We leave Calais early to start devouring the miles across northern France towards Reims along the tactile A26/E15 towards the Champagne region. From Champagne we head towards Epinal and through the Ballons-des-vosges towards Switzerland and our final destination of Zurich. MM -1, Zurich to Brescia Today will be mountain pass day with the route being kept a surprise until the evening of the first day. It will include the best and most impressive roads of the region including an up-and-over the alps so please ensure brakes, clutches and drivers are ready and up to the challenge. MM Day One – Brescia to Ferrara The first day of the historic race. Timing is still to be confirmed however a late morning start will be the order of the day after a good gentlemans (or ladies) breakfast with the short drive to Ferrara. The run will include a scenic drive around Lake Garda and then a run through rural Italy to the beautiful town on Ferrara. MM Day Two – Ferrara to Rome With the start of the first gruelling day of the MM, we head south from Ferrara into rural Italy again before heading to the coast and then back towards the picturesque and tiny Republic of San Marino. A lap of the Republics roads is in order before we head due south towards Assisi along some great scenic roads. From Assisi the roads become narrower and twisty as we follow the mountains through the central Umbria region. With Rome in sight it’s a beautiful drive towards the capital before we enter the hustle and bustle of Rome’s evening skyline where our destination will be waiting for us with stories from the days events. MM Day Three – Rome to Brescia With the final day its time to really stretch the cars on the return drive to Brescia and through probably the most famous and scenic region in Italy, Tuscany. We leave Rome early and head north towards Pienza, Siena and Firenze through Tuscany and back into the northern territory. We then head around Bologna and towards Modena, “the home of engines” and the home of several famous Italian car manufacturers including Ferrari and Lamborghini. The final stretch from Modena will pass quickly as we arrive back in Brescia to much merriment as we complete the Mille Miglia, the 1000 miles and party into the night!

Scally Rally - Arctic
Location:The Arctic Circle
Starts at 09:00
Well what a start – 100 cars lined up alongside the sea-front boulevard, engines running waiting for the start of the most demanding route in Scally Rally history. It’s an understatement to mention there will be an air of apprehension in the build-up to the start with fully laden £100 cars ready to tackle what’s ahead in the next 5 days. The drive on day 1 will be a split between motorways and fast A-roads through Holland and into Germany. The route will include a few hundred miles of scenic tarmac (and some derestricted autobahns) and a brief chance to relax and take in some fantastic sights en-route. It also offers a one-off chance to get off-track and perform a pre-prepared tour of one of Holland or Germany’s favourite cities. Having conquered both Holland and Germany it’s time to head North towards Denmark, Viking country, where the culture shifts and the roads become less crowded. We then head east crossing the Worlds 3rd largest suspension structure, the Great Belt Bridge, which puts the Golden Gate to shame. Its then time to head direct for the finish and the wonderful city of Copenhagen. 24 July 2010 After a refreshing late morning start its time to jump from Denmark and into Sweden using the Oresund bridge as the platform. The West coast of Sweden offers some fantastic smooth tarmac roads and as we drive North a distinct drop in temperature will start to be felt. We encompass Gothenburg around mid-point and as this is the shortest driving day perhaps a chance to wander into the City for a short tour before grabbing some Lunch and heading for the border and the final Country on the tour, Norway, where the beautiful city of Oslo awaits. Ok, no surprise that excitement is building as Day 3 offers some of the most amazing roads in Europe. We leave Oslo after an early start and a short drive to the nearby road that surrounds Tyrifjorden lake with its still, yet beautifully clear waters. We follow the lake road and head north and join Highway 7, heading towards Noresund and the start of something special. Highway 7 takes us along the edge of the Norefjell mountain range, famous in Winter for the ski resorts, but offering amazing views in the summer. The road then weaves its way around the range finishing with a run towards Nesbyen and Gol. From Gol its time to head towards the famous fjords and specifically the Hardanger national route. The route includes a climb and descent from the Hardangervidda mountain plateau, including a tour of the Hardangerjøkulen glacier, used for the ice scenes in a certain famous movie, along with a short time spent admiring the rather special Vøringsfoss waterfall. From the Hardanger region we head towards Brimnes and a short fjord hop on the local car ferry towards Eide. From Eide we hug the twisty fjord-side road towards Oystese, with one final look across the magnificent fjord, we turn towards Bergen and a well-deserved rest after a demanding days drive. 26 July 2010 Another early start but this shouldn’t be too difficult as most will want to hit some more of Day 3 as we wind our way up through the heart of Norway. From Bergen and the Seven mountains we head back towards Trengereid on the motorway and then take the E16 towards Dale and Voss. From Voss we take the fast, yet scenic, E16 towards Vinje and the double-whammy of the Skjelingsvatn and Vikafjell passes. From the mountains we drop down and back towards sea level before another short fjord crossing into the northern regions. After a short relax across the fjord we run the complete fjord-side road of the 55 towards Sogndalsfjora and Fortun where the tallest Norway pass awaits, the Sognefjell pass. From this giant we head between even greater mountains and through the Boverdall valley and up into Lom. At Lom a decision needs to be made as 2 options are available, the direct route to Trondheim or the demanding route including perhaps one of Norways greatest roads, the Trollstigen. The drive to the Trollstigen will add 2 ½ hours to the journey however passing this close it would be rude not to tackle this mini-stelvio. Dependant on route chosen we head towards Oppdal with the days destination in-sight, the party town of Trondheim. 27 July 2010 One final day and perhaps the easiest days drive for the navigators as we follow the same road for pretty much the whole day and into the Arctic circle, ready for the wrap party at the end of this amazing trip. We leave Trondheim early and follow the Fjord heading North towards Steinkjer. From here we pickup the superb E6 towards Mosjoen and Mo I Rana. The E6 is a fantastic scenic road however some of the coastal roads are simply breathtaking. We’d recommend however that these are best attempted on the return journey when time is not critical as should allow you to soak up the sights of the Norwegian sea cutting into the land to form these perfect fjords. From Mo I Rana we head into the Arctic circle crossing the line by Saltdal where a visit to the Arctic circles centre is a must. The final drive through Nordland is spectacular as we approach our final destination in Bodo, where it’s time to party throughout the night…or day and celebrate as always that you…made it!!!
