EBC | | As one of the big names in brake products, EBC has a set of pads for every occasion. The firm's most popular pads are from the coloured 'stuff' range which suit three different levels of fast road use. Greenstuff pads are your entry-level pads but are still a great alternative to standard aftermarket pads. Redstuff pads are marketed for 'premium' cars (in other words, if your BMW tops 200 bhp), made from a special ceramic composite with a reduced dust formula. Yellowstuff pads are at the top end of the scale and are intended for track day use but are equally suitable for road use too, especially if you want good bite from cold. Greenstuff pads are available for the E36 and E46 3-Series, with prices starting from £45.99 for front pads and £40.50 for rear pads. Redstuff and Yellowstuff pads are available for the M3 models of the E36 and E46. Except to pay from £70.99 for fronts and £39.99 for rears. These prices are from Larkspeed and are a 15% markdown on the RRP. | | Contact Larkspeed on 0870 744 0101 www.larkspeed.com |

| | If you're looking to uprate the braking system of your BMW but need quality on a budget then check out K-Sport's big brake kit offerings. The kit consists of eight-piston front calipers and six-piston rears in aircraft-quality billet aluminium and weighing just over 5lb. They also utilise an opposed-piston design for improved rigidity and pad wear. Buyers have a choice of either K-Sport or Ferodo brake pads, with a selection of each tailored to owners' specific needs, whether it be light road use or track days. Rather than manufacturing kits for individual makes and models, K-Sport builds its kits to five, universal size specifications that are suitable for 15" to 19" wheels. The eight-pot front/six-pot rear combination is available with either 330 mm discs at £855, or 356 mm at £999. Calipers are coloured in either standard black or optional orange.

| | TAROX
| | If you're looking for your BMW to run on brake discs which have been thoroughly tried and tested then you can't go wrong with G88 discs. They're the most well-known choice you can make from the Tarox range, as these discs celebrate their 20th anniversary this year. These time-tested discs are still going strong today because of their unique, 40-groove design. Aside from helping to make the discs instantly recognisable, the real reason for so many grooves is to allow the discs torun cooler as the surface area of each disc is reduced into smaller portions. Tarox distributes the G88 discs direct and you'll be looking to pay around £235 for a pair of discs for your 3-Series. Tarox has a near universal coverage for those looking to have G88 discs fitted to the rest of the BMW range as well.

Most of Brembo's brake kits are available either with slotted or drilled discs and black, red or silver calipers. | | HISPEC MOTORSPORT
| | When BMW owners decide to uprate their braking systems with individual parts the focus usually centres on two elements: Pads and discs. Sometimes what's forgotten is the only reason you're able to stop in the first place is down to the calipers. Surely these will need uprating too then? Well, that's why HiSpec think you should take a look at their Radial mount Billet 4 calipers. A major selling point for this specific model is that they're consistently suited to the weight and power of your car. This is because each caliper is designed to be rigid, made from heavy-duty (but lightweight) aluminium, featuring four pistons and fully dust-sealed. Radial mount calipers cost £183.30, come with 34.6 mm, 38.6 mm or 41.2 mm pistons to fit between 10 mm and 30 mm discs and are available in a wide selection of colours. If you’re strapped for cash and aren't fussed about the colours, HiSpec's economy calipers are £143.35.
