VOLKSWAGEN Scirocco - Misfiring 'Rocco

Q
My 1990 Scirocco is fitted with a 1.8T engine with a MBE 992 ECU. The cambelt went so I changed the head. It's now only firing on one injector (No 1). I have checked all the wiring and even tried a new ECU, but still no joy. Any help would be appreciated.

A
SBD Motorsport (www.sbdev.co.uk) are the people who know their MBE ECUs. With the limited amount of information we have been given and the fact that the 992 is an ECU that is potentially bomb proof, coupled with the fact that you have tried a second ECU and checked all the wiring, it would suggest that you need to confirm that it is definitely not firing the other injectors. If there is indeed only one injector firing, there is a slim possibility that there is a problem with a crank sensor or trigger wheel. What the ECU could be doing is counting the teeth on the trigger wheel, it then decides to fire the first injector, but because there is a fault with the sensor or wheel it does not count the correct number of teeth it is expecting, it will do a reset
