PEUGEOT 106XN - Flooding Pug 106

Q
I drive a 1992 Peugeot 106XN 1.1. The problem is, the carburettor floods badly in the winter, then it stalls and can be hard to start again. Have you any ideas what the problem is?

A
We contacted Pug-Performance (01420 587377 www.pug-performance.com) to see if it had come across this problem and it has. The specialist has found that in most cases the carburettor is to blame (e.g. worn needle valve). One of the cheapest and easiest solutions to this problem is to source another carburettor from a scrapyard and fit it.
If you've modified your carburettor with a performance air filter and altered some of the induction pipework, this can affect its operation also.
Another problem that can cause the symptoms you are describing concerns the temperature sensor, which is used to control the fuelling. If this is faulty, it can result in incorrect fuelling so it might be worth trying on a replacement as well.
