VOLKSWAGEN Mk2 - Six CrimeQ I just wondered if you could help me a bit. I just got myself a nice VR6 lump, box, legs, bed, loom and brain, but no cat. Will the engine run ok? (I am putting it in a Mk2 8v) or will I need a cat bypass? One other thing is the clocks - could you give me some on which way to go? A You will need to use a cat bypass with a lambda probe boss of some sort to connect the VR6 downpipe whatever system you intend to run. The classic way of doing this is to use a Supersprint VR6 cat bypass and connect this to the 16v Mk2 system of your choice. Dubpower now make a stainless 6-2-1 cylinder conversion manifold for the Mk2 VR Golf swap. If you're using the original ECU we'd recommend getting a set of VR6 clocks to make the conversion less of a headache. As you don't tell us which year of VR6 you have or which year the Mk2 is, unfortunately we can't help you any further where the wiring is concerned. Try looking at www.mk2vr6.com as users on there have installed and built every possible permutation of VR swap you could ever imagine.
