Having recently been converted to the modified Dub scene, I went along to my local specialist and managed to pick up a late '97 Golf VR6 Highline with just over 78,000miles on the clock. She's a beaut! I'm looking to fit a set of 17s and I've narrowed it down to Porsche 911 replicas or genuine BBS LMs... which do you think I should go for? I've also seen some replica LMs for sale at a significantly cheaper price on a popular auction website. Are they any good?
A friend of mine has also mentioned that he's a got a secondhand Power Rohr for sale from a company called Bonrath, I can't seem to find it in any parts catalogue so I'm wondering what it does and whether it's better than opting for an induction kit? What make of exhaust and filter would give me the best power increase and could you give me any other tips for some big power in the future?

One of the all time classic Mk3 wheels is the 8x17in RH ZW1 with 205/40x17 or 215/40x17in tyres, they're a drop-dead-gorgeous rim that also come in the correct offset and 5x100 PCD if you can track a set down. As for the fake BBS splits they're one piece wheels that are an acquired taste, Jimbo runs a set of 7x16 on his daily driver Passat and hasn't had any problems with his, but we've heard that the first time you kerb them and split the lacquer the water quickly gets underneath and causes the paint/powdercoat to peel off. It's all about horses for courses and what you can really afford, but we'd be tempted to save and get what you really want. The Weitec Hicon GT or fully adjustable TX kit allows you drop the car between 20-75mm without overly compromising the ride quality of the car. However, if you plan on going beyond 30mm we'd also recommend fitting Powerflex front bumpstops. This might mean you'll have to relieve the front arches a little, but it's worth it for the increase in ride quality, particularly if you plan on using the car every day.
Power Rohrs are nothing but old skool tubes that used to increase induction noise without really offering any performance gains. If all you want is noise they're great, but we'd go for a K&N 57i induction kit instead provided you give it a suitable cold air feed from the front bumper.
