Renault Laguna - Laguna Turbo MODSQ I have a 2004 Renault Laguna 2.0 turbo 165bhp petrol. I am looking for some advice on upgrading my stoppers and adding more bhp - a dump valve (and advice) would be great. There never seems to be anything in PFC on Lagunas so I am looking for some help. I have a Green panel filter and am getting a remap in September, but would appreciate your input for the rest.
A You're absolutely, right. The French modification market doesn't exactly cater for the Laguna and we’re equally guilty. Considering the 21 turbo was such a fantastic car, the Laguna turbo has followed suit and deserves some aftermarket mods. We searched high and low and came up with several options. Starting with the most sensible approach, the brakes should be uprated and EBC manufacture its Turbo Groove range to fit the Laguna turbo. Available from the likes of Demon Tweeks and Euro Car Parts, budget for between £150 and £200 for a pair of discs. EBC's Green Stuff pads are worth fitting if you intend to spend most of your time on the road. Otherwise, look at its Red and Yellow Stuff pads if you intend to spend a regular amount of time on a circuit. The brakes should also be uprated with braided steel hoses from the likes of Goodridge, which are available through Demon Tweeks. As for more power from your Laguna turbo, we contacted RS Tuning, who has spent a couple of years developing a map for this engine. It's managed to squeeze over 200bhp and lots more torque using its remaps. If you want even more power, the firm recommends a turbo upgrade similar to the one fitted to the Mégane 225. Alternatively, your existing turbo can be machined to match the spec of the 225's turbo. RST expects around 250bhp from this upgrade, which includes a remap and possibly larger injectors. Total costs hover around the two grand mark. For further details, contact RS Tuning on 0113 243 6444 or visit its website at www.rstuning.co.uk |
